The Wave Of Terror

Marxism was a start of the communist movement. It was an attempt to try to eliminate all social classes and basically say that everyone is at the same class. Marxism was sought as the enemy in the eyes of the United States. It was a revolutionary movement that was sought as a move from the Soviet Union to try and spread communism into all of Latin America.
The United States wanted to be allies with Cuba in order to stop this movement. The U.S was afraid that if one country was affected by this movement then all others would follow as well. So being the good country that the United States always wants to be, they helped out Latin America. They formed a strong military base. They helped Latin America by training them at the US’s military school of the Americas. They taught them how to fight guerillas, which is better known as counterinsurgency. The US Military took control over the outskirts of Latin America. They made sure that no communist forces would enter into Latin America. Whereas Latin America themselves tried to stop communism from happening within their borders.
In response to the Cuban Revolution, Kennedy came up with a similar idea like the Marshall Plan which he called the Alliance for Progress. This plan was created to stimulate the economy and economy reforms so that they could decrease the revolutionary pressure that was trying to be put on Latin America. But the Alliance for progress seemed to lose its spark. In response to this, the fear of communism creeping its way into Latin America became a worry of the generals of Latin America.
No matter how many guns or how much power one country has over their people, the minds and ambitions of the people don’t fade.  That stayed true for some of the people in Latin Ameirca. Once the 1960’s started to approach, the desire for Marxism was becoming more apparent. Slogans started to show up more on walls. Artists, social scientists, and nationalists were being showing more of their revolutionary support in their works. One dominant way that the Latin Americans were persuaded into accepting the Marxism idea, were the movies. The movies according to the makers of the film, were supposed to show the people that the way they are living is terrible and that Marxist idea was the one to support. Another way that people were affected in to supporting the ideas of Marxism were books. Latin American literature became popular and many authors wrote about why people should support the revolution.
One country in Latin America that struggled with fighting against this revolution was Argentina. A lot of guerillas whom most were from Peronists families, fought back against the Argentina government. Majority of the guerillas were urban, middle-class, and often university educated. Soon Peron returned and became president but unfortunately died within months of presidency. After his death, the vice president position was awarded to his wife Isabel.
Marxism was a revolutionary idea which was attempted to be stopped by Unted States and Latin America. It started off strong but it slowly started to wear off.
