Born In Blood & Fire Chapter 9: Reaction

The Cocaine Lord: Pablo Escobar
Escobar started his crime career at the slums of Rio Negro by stealing cars and anything misplaced that way on his way.  His mother was a teacher and his father was a farm worker. A young reporter, Elizabeth Mora, was able to publish articles first handed about Escobar, because of her courage and fearless for the Escobar’s drug cartel. Escobar was a visionary man that wanted the lower class, the poor, to be able to get a better life style, better health, and bright future.
One of Mora’s published articles were the De “Medallo” A “Metrallo,” where Mora explained how Escobar’s criminal mind thought, and how did Escobar saw himself. Mora, also, said that Escobar worse fear his extradition to the United States.
Escobar declared war to the Colombian government by killing political officials, he commanded his people to kill more than 12 congressmen.
Later on his drug career, Escobar became the richest and most powerful cartel lords at that time.  Colombia didn’t, actually, know who Escobar was. Escobar was first jailed at age 23 when found with 39 pounds of cocaine but he wasn’t afraid of the Colombian government, he feared the U.S. government. Even though he was captured and jailed for the 39 pounds of cocaine found under his control, he would always smile, and stayed calm under any circumstances.
Escobar knew that the best way for him to gain more power over Colombia was to be involved in politics, so he ran for a progress representative position. He also thought that he some day he would be president of Colombia but that didn’t happen. In 1984 he supplied 86% of the countries cocaine consumption but not just in Colombia but throughout the continent, in other means, The United States. By the 1980’s, he already have any port in Miami to his disposition whereas the greatest drug cartel needed the help of people living in Miami and other parts of the United States to help distribute Escobar’s cocaine.
While in Miami, Escobar met drug distributors who were really interest on the way how Escobar operated his drugs. Escobar created a new set of laws for those distributors to fallow; these were to respect his drugs, profit, and his business. That was the key to success. Everyone really liked so they followed Escobar way of dealing with people. If anyone were to violate his rules he would go after their families, and close friends, basically anyone related to traitors.
Now he had a huge network where he was the big boss, or in other words “Cartel Lord” making the value of his drugs to increase millions of dollars from Medellin to Miami. Also, Forbes mentioned Escobar, as one of the top richest man in the world.
Now the real story starts, crime and sorrow for the people of Colombia. Many shopping mall shootouts occurred during Escobar’s control of Colombia. He also, always compared himself superior to Al Capone, and Pancho Villa. Now the people of Colombia wanted an end to all the violence within Colombia.
As it is known, Colombia at the time had a huge poor class population, where kids were willing to join the drug cartels for only one reason as a way to overcome poverty. Many of them helped distribute drugs around Medellin and other places in Colombia.
Escobar was the hero of the common lower class people which Escobar helped by building school, hospital, and a soccer stadium in Medellin. He also, gave money to the people within his surroundings, to get protection and loyalty from them.
Escobar richness came all from drug money mainly cocaine. He owned plenty of ranches and haciendas where he would throw parties and a lot important people were invited. Indeed, Escobar order to build big sculptures of dinosaurs. He wanted the people to he him as he saw himself, relax, calm, and happy.  He felt like he was the master of the universe.
Later on, Colombia declared war 1989 to Pablo, and he started to kill more and more people, one of these people as result was Galan who was seen as the future best fit president for Columbia, Galan was against Escobar and his crimes. This was the main reason why Escobar killed him.
Since, Escobar started to kill kids and women. At this time Escobar had already crossed the line, and Escobar next target was the news paper. He did not care about foreign news but he did care about the national news that was attacking him with negative publicity. His next target was the DAS like FBI of Colombia. Escobar order Dany Muños Mosquera, “La Quica,” to place a bomb inside the DAS’s building which killed about 107 people.
This was the downfall of his legacy. Escobar wasn’t afraid to die, he was afraid of what could happen to his children and family. As a consequence, Escobar started to distrust his closest friends, and killed Galiacho himself. Then the people that followed him started to question whether or not to keep being his allies, but these people decided to create a new crime organization called, “P.E.P.E.S,” that wanted to terminate Escobar and his family.

Then on his early 40, Escobar had to run from place to place in order to prevent his capture by the Colombian army.  Escobar died at the age of 43 in crossfire.
