Brazil, Forever Rich in Debt

Brazil was flourishing with its beauty until the military came into power. These military leaders were above all when it came to governing Brazil. If there was a law that could interfere with what they want to accomplish, they will simply change the law that impeded them at first to allow them to now do as they pleased. the Brazilians weren't happy with the way things were going. Since there wasn't really any kind of political party since the military was in power, Brazilians would comment that they had options still; either yes, or yes sir. Most of the Brazilians were in the middle class; many of which suffered due to the military being so influential. The economy was hitting a peaking presence and was a great way to subside the fact that the poor or middle classes of Brazil were being treated wrong. This booming growth in the economy had the military get a little greedy.
They pushed and pushed to have the industrial portion of Brazil to strive. The industrial products of Brazil were making the country flourish and making the country rich; well making the rich, richer and the poor, poorer. The heavy industry was making the middle class look poor because they couldn't afford what the rich could. Throughout that time, Brazil was having difficulties feeding the families and keeping them alive or healthy. The way that the profits were being earned, weren't being distributed out in the most prosperous way. The high Brazilian society built dams, highways, bridges, and airports that they would more than likely use and not the other half of the society. Then suddenly like it came out of nowhere, the prosperity of what seemed would last longer had come to an unexpected halt. Oil was a big issue and major item that was being consumed by Brazil. Oil prices were raised steeply in the early 1970's and Brazil had been importing a lot of oil.    The oil profits were called petrodollars. The oil had come from foreign places. Saudi Arabia and Iraq were a couple of places that Brazil had gained oil through. The military government that was Brazil would ask for loans to receive this oil. Low interest, short term loans were used. But billions among billions of dollars were borrowed to accomplish the need of oil in oil-poor Brazil. Later on, the debt spiked! It dramatically rose to the point that Brazil was named with the worlds largest foreign debt. When the industrial revolution in Brazil started to pass the coffee exports, it showed weakness from within. Brazil's people could not afford the very own things that they were exporting. The country was not doing so well. The families were often half nourished, because they could not afford the food expenses, but the military still kept on pressing them to work for profits that would end up in the upper classes hands and not in the hands of those who need it. The workers of Sao Paulo were outraged by what was happening that they started a protest. But the military government was too much for them, seeing that they were the ones to thank for the prosperity that was reached in the beginning.
